OPTICAL INDUSTRY
APPLICATIONS
GfE Metalle und Materialien GmbH is a leading manufacturer
of highly refractive oxides for the use in the fields of glasses,
precision optics and fiber optics. The purity, homogeneity, microstructure and
density of the material are adjusted to customer requirements.
Our materials are used for:
- Anti-reflective layers on glasses
- Color filters and special filters in the field of laser technology
- Highly refractive layer systems in fiber optics: tantalum oxide/ silicon dioxide multilayers for DWDM filters (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer) allow for an increase of the transfer capacity of existing fiber optic networks. This technology is particularly essential for upgrading fiber optic networks as the Internet expands.
For our materials tantalum oxide and niobium oxide in
particular, we use our own source, raw materials from mines belonging to the
conglomerate. This allows us to monitor the quality. For more technical
information on our tantalum oxide, please refer to our product brochure
Tantalum Pentoxide Ta2O5
.
GfE Metalle und Materialien GmbH has developed a special
manufacturing process for the production of "shaped sources" for oxidic coating
materials. These materials are used for electron-beam evaporation. In comparison
to granules or tablets they offer many advantages including higher material
yield and reduction in coating time. For more information on this, please refer
to our technical product brochure
