ALUMINOTHERMIC REDUCTION
PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGY
We produce several binary and multinary alloys with high melting points by reducing the corresponding metal oxides (e.g., V2O5; Cr2O3; Nb2O5 ) with aluminum. The melting is done in a ceramic crucible. After ignition, all reactions occur exothermally with temperatures reaching more than 2,000°C during the melting process. Frequently produced alloy types include vanadium-aluminum, nickel-niobium, ferro-niobium, molybdenum-aluminum and niobium-aluminum.
