Powderization
GfE has many various disintegrators and grinding machines for the manufacture
of the particle size distribution specified by our customers. The crushing
machines are selected according to the particle size distribution to be
achieved. Jaw crushers, rotary crushers, roller crushers, roll mills, pinned
disc mills, oszillating rod mills, etc. are used. Subsequently, the material is
classified by sieving according to customer specifications.
For the
production of very fine powder, GfE uses rod mills (Cryopalla mills), which can
be operated at very low temperatures due to their specific design. This allows
for grinding of problematic materials such as titanium and chromium powder,
which GfE produces by the ton.
Inspection
In conjunction with regulations, several quality assurance and inspection steps
are carried out for products that are supplied for the use in sensitive
applications, e.g. in the aerospace industry. We guarantee that our products are
free of high-melting and/or high-density particles (e.g., tungsten, tantalum, niobium, oxides,
nitrides).
In order to ensure this quality standard, GfE maintains
two three-stage inspection lines. In the first stage, the products that have
been crushed to their final particle size are inspected visually. In the second,
fully automated stage, the flow of material is checked under ultraviolet light
for any remaining oxide layers. During the third, also fully automated stage,
the flow of material is finally subjected to an X-ray check to select
high-density particles.
Mechanical Processing
Our mechanical processing capabilities are specially designed to process non-ductile or any other problematic materials. Presently, GfE has several automatic vertical band saws and automatic horizontal band saws at its disposal. Our mechanical processing shop with CNC technology (lathes, mills) expands our capabilities.
