TITANIUM BASED HIGH PERFORMANCE MATERIALS

GfE has developed excellent know-how for the production of special titanium materials by metallurgical melting under vacuum. Many of our titanium based materials are certified according to international standards, or for special industrial applications. The alloys produced by GfE Advanced Materials are used for the manufacture of high performance components, which either are exposed to extreme thermal und mechanical strains or have to show specific physical and chemical properties.

Special capabilities at GfE Advanced Materials include the successful development of inter-metallic Titanium Aluminum light weight alloys – known as gamma Titanium Aluminide alloys - for use at operating temperatures up to 900°C. Present applications for these gamma Titanium Aluminide alloys include oscillating and/or rotating components for internal combustion engines and steam and gas turbines. Additionally, special titanium alloys for biomechanical applications in the human body, are part of our product offerings.

Our Core Competencies

  • Production of tailor-made Master Alloys through aluminothermic reduction and vacuum induction melting
  • Manufacture of refractory metals and refractory metal alloys through vacuum arc melting using a trigatron electrode and a consuming electrode (VAR)
  • Mechanical processing of materials, especially machining of difficult alloys
  • Production of homogenous, high purity materials to narrow specification limits
  • High temperature forming of Titanium Aluminum and titanium containing alloys
