SOURCES

VANADIUM SOURCING

Crude oils and used catalysts provide an alternative source of raw materials for the extraction of vanadium and further metals. Useable residues for further utilisation come from:

Refineries

In refineries crude oil is broken down into single components. In order to accelerate or control this process catalysts are used. Depending on the processes very different metal compounds are utilised. Therefore catalysts contain major amounts of vanadium, nickel, molybdenum, aluminum and further metals which influence the process flow. When a catalyst is no longer used in the process it can serve as raw material because of the valuable metal compounds.

Gasifiers

In gasifiers crude oils, which can previously be subjected to a chemical treatment, are gasified for power generation and for the extraction of methanol and hydrogen. In this process vanadium containing residues accrue in the form of filter cakes.

Power plants

In power plants mixtures of heavy fuel oil and orimulsion are burnt for the purpose of energy production. In this process the combustion residues in the form of boiler residues and filter dust accrue in the exhaust systems. Both materials contain vanadium.

We evaluate the quality of your residues regarding further possible use. Our experts advise you on matters from the handling of your material to information on environmental law.
