Safety management plays a very special role wherever chemical substances are used. GfE operates certified environmental (ISO 14001) and workplace safety management (OHSAS 18001) systems at all its sites, as well as internal accident prevention safety management procedures at the Nuremberg site.
In addition to mandatory safety management measures, GfE also places particular importance on preventative measures. Our staff receive regular training for carrying out comprehensive risk assessments across all areas of production. Together, we analyse in advance all possibilities that could lead to an incident. This is the safest way to prevent accidents.
What measures are to be taken in the event of an incident at the Nuremberg production site?
GfE is a chemical plant at which classified dangerous materials are also handled. The facilities are subject to the Hazardous Incident Ordinance. Our comprehensive safety management system ensures that the risk of an environmental accident is reduced to a minimum.
Despite all the safety precautions we have in place for our staff and the area, accidents and hazardous incidents cannot be completely ruled out. For such an exceptional case, alarms and hazard prevention plans are in place to regulate further action on the site’s premises and in the immediate area. In the case of an emergency, the local fire department and auxiliary services have the necessary equipment immediately at hand to limit the effects of an accident.
The following safety management information sheet is to inform you about the correct procedures to be followed in the unlikely event of an accident:
Download information about safety measures regarding the immediate area around our Nuremberg site and the public, as in accordance with paragraphs 8a and 11 of the Hazardous Incident Ordinance (12. BlmSchV)
(Information sheet only available in German).
The Hazardous Incident Ordinance requires operators of plants at which dangerous substances are handled to inform the area about suitable safety measures and the correct response to a hazardous incidence.
The purpose of the Hazardous Incident Ordinance is to minimise the risks and dangers of industrial hazardous incidents for the public and to protect the environment and immediate area against possible dangers that may arise from operating such plants.
Because the Nuremberg site of GfE Metalle und Materialien GmbH falls under purview of the Hazardous Incident Ordinance, we are hereby informing you about the correct response to a hazardous incident.
Therefore, please regard this information sheet as a part of our safety precautions.
The last on-site inspection by the authorities, in accordance with paragraph 17 of the Hazardous Incident Ordinance, took place on December 12, 2017. The next on-site inspection is planned for December 2019.
